The calendar published by the Collective of Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals of Madrid for 2010 aims to be “secular”…
Each month of the year is illustrated by a loose interpretation of a scene from the Catholic imagination, mainly apparitions of the virgin that take less clothes than the original models or much makeup.
This is part of the scenery used in the preparation of a “secular calendar”, a graphic document with a vindictive figure where, despite the paradoxical nature of its subject, a group of transsexuals wants the replacement of religious holidays for social occasions.
“This idea of transgressive art is to break patterns and those of our generation are those of a Catholic education from the perspective” justifies Juan Antinoo, the photographer who has made the calendar at the request of the Collective of Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals Madrid (COGAM).
This weekend, more than 35 cities around the world host various events for the declassification of transsexualism as a disease in the catalog of the World Health Organization (WHO).
